Kastur Jewels: Mughal Jewellery Shines Bright at Hong Kong Palace Exhibition

January 2026

The Mughal dynasty’s opulent jewellery tradition continues to inspire contemporary designers and captivate collectors worldwide

Kastur Jewels, the London-based brand founded by Rajvi Vora, brings Mughal-era grandeur into the modern wardrobe with consciously crafted, heritage-inspired designs. Drawing on jewellery traditions spanning the Mughal to Edwardian periods, the label focuses on antique aesthetics reimagined for contemporary wearers.

In the South China Morning Post feature on Mughal jewellery and the Hong Kong Palace Museum exhibition, Kastur Jewels is highlighted as a leading example of how historic craftsmanship continues to shape today’s luxury landscape. Vora explains how she uses traditional kundan setting with uncut polki diamonds, relying on highly refined gold and pressure-setting techniques still practised in Rajasthan, especially Jaipur. She also frequently incorporates meenakari, the colourful enamel work with roots from the Sassanid era in Persia, preserving an old-world feel.

Beyond design, Kastur Jewels stands out for its ethical philosophy: pieces are handmade in small artisanal workshops in India and Kenya, produced in very limited batches, and created only with natural stones and metals. The brand’s collections are stocked in renowned institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum, and a portion of sales supports humanitarian initiatives.
