Investing in Gold is always a good idea
Gold has been used a form of currency from as early as 550 BC. It is one of the oldest precious metals known to humankind.
I remember growing up with everyone from my Great Grandmothers to Mother and aunts always investing in gold at every opportunity: a birthday, anniversary, celebrations such as Diwali and of course a big part of weddings is gifting and buying Gold jewellery. We have Gold jewellery heirlooms that have been in the family for over 300 years now. Browsing through my Mother’s collection of endless jewels (a lot of them safely secured in ‘lockers’) is always very exciting. A safety net for future generations!
According to David Brough of the Jewellery Outlook ‘’Gold prices seem set for longer term upside if Sino-U.S. relations deteriorate further and if the climate of low interest rates persists well into next year due to the punishment of the world economy by Covid-19. Gold prices were up 0.39 percent to $1,732.71 per ounce late on May 22. Historically, slumps in stock markets have tended to coincide with rising gold prices, as gold is considered to be a “safe-haven” in times of geo-political turmoil. A potentially deep global recession spurred by the novel coronavirus, which would be characterised by the loss of millions of jobs, could drag further on equities, and weaken the prices of many assets, possibly driving a flight of investor funds into safety in gold’’

Indians especially are known to invest in Gold. Gold jewellery is seen as a form of future security, a sign of status and prosperity. It is also widely considered to be a metal of good luck, said to bring much joy, happiness and further wealth. It is a metal known to have pure qualities, something you have forever – that has a meaning and you can pass on and on. I have grown up with these stories and beliefs in gold. They are intriguing, charming and exciting.
